Bruxism: Do you clench or «grind» your teeth?

Bruxism is a very common condition, most adults today to a greater or lesser degree, suffer from bruxism. Causes? Many, mainly stress, but also occlusion (bite) problems, and many more. Complications? Yes, many, from headaches, muscle pain in the face, neck and different chewing muscles (on the sides of the face and head), to wear and fractures of the teeth and complications and wear in the TMJ (temporomandibular joint, the one that unites the jaw with the skull), limitation of mouth opening or even ringing in the ears. Solutions? Yes, many, depending on the case, bruxism can be treated with orthodontics, occlusal corrections or adjustments, and guards for daily and/or night use that prevent the wear of the teeth, and cause a «reflex» type effect in the muscles of the jaw, they open the mouth and relax.
